Range of Services

For the majority of our clients the espresso machine is the heart of the business. When it breaks down it becomes a monumental problem, not just because of the cost to repair it, but because of the downtime whilst you cannot serve the world’s favourite beverage to your customers. This is why we are your ideal solution to ensure your equipment runs as efficiently as possible and therefore keeping these expenses down.

Café Clinic offer tailored services to suit the type of equipment you have, its workload and the ‘water hardness level’ in the area (see Water Treatment). This drastically reduces the chance of your equipment failing.

All beverage equipment requires scheduled maintenance for the following reasons:

  • To reduce the chance of costly breakdowns.
  • To ensure that it is producing a product of optimum quality.
  • To make sure equipment is working efficiently and not consuming too much power and/or product.
  • Most importantly, to make sure it is SAFE.

Breakdown Service

We have over 10 years of experience with espresso machines and associated equipment. Whether your machinery has a specific fault or it simply doesn’t seem to be working properly, we can rectify most problems by the way of on-site repair and/or service.

In the unfortunate event of a breakdown, Café Clinic can provide an extremely prompt on-site repair service at very competitive rates and we strive to complete the repair during the first visit to minimise downtime. We have invested heavily in a huge stock of spare parts that are carried on our vehicles. We are extremely proud to boast that approximately 95% of our repair calls are completed without the need for a second visit!

Front End Service

This consists of replacing the group head seals & shower plates, the replacement of seals & washer in the water/steam valves, cleaning of level probe(s) and a general assessment of health. A ‘back flush’ of the group heads is also carried out with a very powerful solution to breakdown any thick, stubborn excess coffee oils that can lead to bitter tasting coffee and poor machine performance. We will also calibrate the grinder to ensure optimum taste and performance.

Full Service/Overhaul

This is usually carried out in workshop conditions for machinery that is found to have had prolonged heavy usage and/or has an excessive build-up of lime scale in the boiler and hydraulic system. This can often be a more cost effective alternative to buying replacement machinery. This consists of a Front End Service, full strip down & de-scale, rebuilt with all new consumable parts.

Boiler examination (for all machines with a steam pressure boiler)

The Pressure Systems Regulations 2000 (PSSR 2000) apply to a system which stores steam at any pressure, therefore coffee machines with a steam boiler, in a work environment, fall under PSSR Regulations. This means that they must have a Written Scheme of Examination and that they must also be examined in accordance with the written scheme.

Before a pressure system is operated the User/Owner must ensure that a written scheme of examination has been prepared and this is something we do.

The Written Scheme of Examination is a document that identifies pressure vessels, all protective devices plus other components that, if they were to fail, could give rise to danger, or through failing cause some other parts of the system to fail.

The Written Scheme of Examination must list the specified items for examination and state the nature and frequency of any examinations, which, in the opinion of a Competent Person drawing up or certifying a Written Scheme of Examination, are necessary to ensure safe operation of the system.

All boiler inspections carried out by Café Clinic are in compliance with HSE Pressure Systems and Safety Regulations 2000 (SI2000 no.128).
